Progress Flowmon is a leading provider of solutions for monitoring and securing network traffic. Flowmon’s product portfolio consists of a comprehensive solution for network monitoring based on data flows (NetFlow / IPFIX and others). The solution is composed of powerful autonomous Flowmon probes, collectors, and software modules that extend the functionality of the probes and collectors. The probes analyze every passing packet and generate NetFlow statistics based on this data. These statistics are exported to collectors, where they are stored and prepared for visualization and analysis through the Flowmon monitoring center. Advanced NetFlow statistics analysis can be performed on the collector using the extending software modules.
The Flowmon solution consists of the following components:
- Flowmon Collector: The fundamental building block of real-time network monitoring. It archives, analyzes, and evaluates all “Flow” data coming from the network up to the application layer.
- Flowmon Probe: A device designed to capture network traffic, where initial data processing also takes place. These are then sent in a compact format to the Collector for evaluation.
- Anomaly Detection System (ADS): Performs security monitoring. It conducts automatic analysis of anomalies in network traffic using behavioral analysis and identifies security and operational incidents.
- Application Performance Monitor (APM): Monitors the performance of HTTP/HTTPS applications and SQL databases, focusing on accurately locating problematic states affecting application speed and response times.
- Flowmon Packet Investigator (FPI): Facilitates the capture and archiving of suspicious traffic for later in-depth analysis. It uses advanced data processing methods and offers specific guidance on how to eliminate identified threats.
