Rapid7 has announced significant changes to the portfolio and commercial model of its Exposure Command solution. The updates, introduced during the webinar “Exposure Command Portfolio & Commercial Overview,” are designed to simplify product packaging, eliminate commercial complexity, and provide customers with greater visibility into asset usage.
Simpler Portfolio: End of the Advanced Edition
One of the most notable changes is the discontinuation of the Exposure Command Advanced package. Rapid7 is now restructuring the portfolio around two primary tiers:
- Essentials
- Ultimate
At the same time, Ultimate becomes the company’s primary recommended solution for customers. The goal is to simplify product selection and accelerate deployment across organizations.
Significantly Lower Pricing and Easier Entry
Rapid7 is also adjusting its pricing model. The company has significantly reduced the price of the Ultimate package while lowering minimum ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) requirements, resulting in:
- lower entry barriers for new customers,
- easier budget approvals,
- greater flexibility for partners during commercial negotiations.
For organizations that previously hesitated due to pricing or licensing complexity, this could become a major driver for platform adoption.
New Asset Counting Model
Rapid7 is introducing a new asset billing model across:
- cloud environments,
- on-premises infrastructure,
- third-party systems.
The key change is that each asset will now be counted only once, regardless of how many sources detect it. This approach is intended to eliminate licensing duplication and improve cost predictability.
License Utilization Dashboard Brings Greater Transparency
Customers using the new SKUs will gain access to a new Utilization Dashboard, providing detailed visibility into:
- license utilization,
- entitlements,
- asset consumption.
According to Rapid7, the dashboard is expected to significantly simplify:
- renewal processes,
- expansion planning,
- communication between partners and customers.
Existing Customers Will Keep Their Functionality
Rapid7 also confirmed that existing Advanced customers will retain their current functionality. In addition, customers who were previously not charged for certain non-assessed third-party assets will be grandfathered in and allowed to continue under their original terms.
New Resources and Support for Partners
Updated materials are already available in the Rapid7 partner portal, including:
- FAQs related to Exposure Command changes,
- feature comparison by tiers,
- updated sales presentations.
Partners with additional questions are encouraged to contact their Channel Account Manager or reach out to the Rapid7 team through partner channels.
These changes indicate that Rapid7 is aggressively simplifying the adoption of its security solutions while addressing long-standing challenges related to licensing complexity and asset management.
